Supertabs

A supertab is a collection of tabs that contain web content (web apps or websites). You can create supertabs by dragging and dropping tabs and arranging them in a way that is convenient for using them together.

If you have admin permission (either "Content Manager" or "Full Access"), you can define a shared supertab within the HERE Enterprise Browser. Then you can use the Supertabs page of the Admin Console to define the users and groups that can access it.

The supertabs that have been created by admin users appear in the Supertabs page. This is the fourth item in the left-side navigation pane.

Edit a supertab

  1. Find the supertab you want to modify.

  2. Click the Action ⋮ menu for the supertab.

  3. Select Edit. The Supertab view opens.

  4. (Optional) Modify the Basics settings:

    • Name: Give the supertab a descriptive name that is meaningful to users.

    • ID: The ID is generated by the system when it is created. You can edit it, but in most cases, there is no need to do so. The ID must be unique across all supertabs in your platform.

    • Description: Describe the supertab in greater detail than the name. For example, you can mention the purpose of the supertab, who has access to it, and the content items that are included.

  5. (Optional) Select the Featured Content checkbox to mark the supertab as featured. Featured supertabs appear prominently in new tabs for users who have access to it. As a best practice, mark only the most relevant supertabs as featured, to ensure that these items stand out to users.

  6. (Optional) Grant access to users:

    • Click Grant Users Access. The Grant Users Access dialog appears.

    • Use the search bar to find the users or groups that you want to be able to access this supertab.

    • Select the checkboxes next to the name of the users or groups you want to grant access to. The selected users and groups appear in the Selected listbox.

    • Click Grant Access.

  7. Click one of the following buttons:

    • To save your changes without modifying the supertab's status, click Save.

    • To save and activate an inactive supertab, click Activate.

    • To save and deactivate an active supertab, click Deactivate.

Activate a supertab

You can activate a supertab whose Status is Inactive.

  1. In the Supertabs page, use the search bar to find the supertab by its name. You can also scroll through the list of supertabs to locate the one you want to modify.

  2. Click the Action ⋮ menu on the right end of the supertab's row.

  3. Select either Activate or Edit. The Supertab view opens.

  4. Make any necessary changes to the settings. Ensure that you have configured access settings correctly before activating the supertab. Once the supertab is activated, only users and groups listed in the Access section can view and interact with the supertab.

  5. Click ** Activate. The content item is made available to the users and groups that have been granted access. The supertab's Status changes to Active.

Deactivate a supertab

You can deactivate a supertab whose Status is Active. If you deactivate a supertab, any users who had access to it immediately lose access to open it. A user can continue to use any supertab they have open. A user cannot open or re-open a deactivated supertab.

  1. In the Supertabs page, use the search bar to find the supertab by its name. You can also scroll through the list of supertabs to locate the one you want to modify.

  2. Click the Action ⋮ menu on the right end of the supertab's row.

  3. Select Deactivate. The supertab's Status changes to Inactive.

You can also deactivate an active supertab after editing it. See Edit a supertab.

Delete a supertab

If a supertab is no longer needed or is outdated, you can permanently remove it from the platform. Keep in mind that deleting a supertab is irreversible. After a supertab is deleted, it is no longer accessible to users, and all associated settings and permissions are also removed. If you need to restore it later, you must recreate it.

If a user is using a supertab at the time that you delete it, they can continue using it in that session. However, the next time the user starts the browser, they will be unable to access the deleted supertab.

  1. In the Supertabs page, use the search bar to find the supertab by its name. You can also scroll through the list of supertabs to locate the one you want to modify.

  2. Click the Action ⋮ menu on the right end of the supertab's row.

  3. Click Delete. A confirmation dialog appears.

  4. If you are sure you want to delete the supertab, click Delete. Otherwise, click Cancel to avoid deleting the supertab. If you confirm, the supertab is permanently removed from the system. A success message indicates that the supertab has been deleted.

You can also delete a supertab after editing it. Follow the steps in Edit a supertab and click Delete Supertab in the last step.

Delete multiple supertabs

  1. In the Supertabs page, locate the supertabs you want to delete. You can use the search field to filter the list of groups, or you can scroll through the list of groups.

  2. Select the checkbox next to each supertab's name. Be sure that you have selected the checkboxes for only the supertabs you want to delete, and no others.

  3. Click Delete. A confirmation dialog appears.

  4. If you are sure you want to delete the selected supertabs, click Delete in the confirmation dialog. Otherwise, click Cancel to avoid deleting the supertabs.
